Children's Health

A huge concern for any adoptive parent (really a concern for any parent in general) is the health and well being of their child.  When adopting internationally this is especially important because health and safety regulations are often not as strict in these countries.

The CDC recently reported that parents should get their internationally adopted children tested for lead in their bloodstream.  Recently in the United States, a small number of children have been found to have high levels of lead in their systems.

It is important to maintain your child's health to the best of your ability- Getting them tested for lead poisoning is a great place to start.  And while you are there, be sure to tell your trusted pediatrician where the child was adopted from and any family history for the child that you may know of.

Children recently adopted from overseas may have been exposed to lead. Ask your doctor for a lead test! Click here…
